Play with consideration

Better Rounds Start with Good Etiquette

Make Every Throw a Safe One

Check the Landing Area

Before you throw, make sure the fairway and landing area are clear of players, pedestrians, and other park users.

Check Before Throwing

Never Throw Toward People

Wait until everyone is out of range. If someone enters your line, pause and give them room to pass.

Give Others Space

Stay Alert for Errant Discs

Watch nearby fairways, listen for warnings, and call “Fore!” immediately if your disc heads toward someone.

Know the Safety Basics

Keep the Round Moving

A steady pace gives everyone more time to enjoy the course without feeling rushed.

1

Be Ready for Your Turn

Choose your disc and plan your shot while others play, then throw when it is safe and your turn arrives.

2

Move Along Together

Walk to your next lie promptly, keep your group together, and save longer conversations for a break.

3

Let Faster Groups Through

If your group is holding others up, invite a faster group to play through when there is a safe opportunity.

Share the Course, Share the Park

Flagstaff’s disc golf courses often weave through public parks and open spaces used by walkers, families, cyclists, and people with dogs. Give everyone room to enjoy the outdoors: check the entire flight path before throwing, wait until others have moved well clear, and never assume someone can see or hear you. If a path crosses a fairway, pause and invite people through rather than rushing a shot.

Keep bags and groups off trails and picnic areas, call out a friendly warning if a disc heads toward someone, and follow posted park rules for pets and shared spaces. A little patience helps keep Flagstaff’s courses welcoming for everyone.

Good Rounds Start with Courtesy

Disc golf welcomes first-timers, competitive players, and everyone in between. Give each person space to throw, stay quiet and still during their shot, and offer advice only when it is wanted. If a disc lands near another group, communicate clearly and calmly before retrieving it.

Keep music and celebrations at a volume that lets others enjoy their round, and avoid distractions near tees and putting areas. Be patient with different skill levels, invite faster groups to play through when appropriate, and resolve questions about rules or order of play with respect.

Know the rules. Respect the place.
